Commemorative plaque for Friedrich Traugott Wahlen, 1999

About the work

Friedrich Traugott Wahlen (1899-1985), a professor of crop farming at ETH Zurich, FAO Director and Federal Councillor, initiated the Anbauschlacht (the Swiss initiative to boost domestic food production during the Second World War); it was also dubbed the Wahlen Plan after him. The plaque unveiled in 1999 commemorates Wahlen’s place of work during his time as a professor at ETH Zurich between 1943 and 1949.
