About the person Aurel Stodola (1859-1942, engineer and mechanical engineer, Austria-Hungary/Switzerland) developed the principles of steam and gas turbines and the internal combustion engine at ETH Zurich. His belief in technology went so far as to advocate the use of all technical possibilities in biology, especially in genetics and eugenics. From this position, Stodola showed sympathy for German National Socialism.
