About the person Ernst Laur (1871-1964, agronomist, Switzerland) graduated from the Eidgenössische Polytechnische Schule (now ETH Zurich) in 1893, where he taught as a private lecturer in agricultural policy from 1901 and as a full professor of agriculture from 1908. He made a name for himself as a leader of farmers through his work in the Swiss Farmers’ Association and thus also in Swiss politics, and shaped Swiss agricultural policy, particularly in the first half of the 20th century, as one of the most influential figures in Swiss public life. He propagated a national-conservative ideology of the peasantry, saw the peasantry as the guarantor of the preservation of the nation and did not shy away from National Socialist rhetoric.
